26. How to Restore Old Photos Using Photoshop Elements

I wrote a blog post last year about how I restored this photo using Photoshop Elements. (There’s a free Photoshop Elements action that goes along with the blog post too!)

The interest in this tutorial led me to write an article for the Photographic Elements Techniques magazine all about restoring old scanned photos. It appears in the March/April edition.

(The cover is cool, isn’t it? That shot comes from a great article about using Elements’ zoom blur written by Lesa Snider.)

Here’s one of the edits I created for the tutorial in PET magazine:

And here’s another. I couldn’t stand that makeup on my great grandmother’s face!

I know quite a few of you subscribe to this magazine or are members of its website because you send me such kind messages when my tutorials appear there.

For those of you who don’t subscribe, however, it’s a great place to learn the nitty gritty of PSE. Each edition of the magazine has a wide variety of tutorials. New tutorials that aren’t in the magazine are posted on the website frequently as well. Beyond photo editing, you’ll learn graphics techniques like dressing up text and creating photo templates that can be applied to scrapbooking also.

If you’re looking for another great place to learn Elements (aside, of course, from the one you’re on right now!), this magazine is a great source of knowledge. Hope to see you there!
